5 Star Sleeps 12

School House is located in a village setting with four local pubs and a shop on the doorstep, and all surrounded by the grandeur of the Yorkshire Dales countryside. What better place for a holiday – whether for a large family gathering, or a group of friends?

Previously the village school (still complete with its own bell tower), it’s a Grade II listed building. It has an imposing position near the top of the main street, opposite Middleham Castle.

Bedrooms

School house sleeps 12 in luxury, in a mixture of double and twin rooms, with the option to add two extra beds for larger parties.

The Owner's Suite - This huge, galleried double bedroom suite was perviously used as a sitting room. With its stunning view of the main street and Middleham Castle beyond, it has a serious "wow" factor.

Tower Bedroom - Luxuriously large bedroom with a feature seating area within the bell tower, again with a view of the castle.

Rookery Bedroom - Another huge bedroom, this time with a fantastic view to the rear of the house. Each night, you can watch (and listen!) from the velux windows to the rooks roosting in the nearby pine trees.

Headmaster's Study - Cosy, quiet room with a view of the garden. At the time of writing this room has a private dressing room – this will be converted to an ensuite shower room in time for the summer season of 2011.

Trainer's Bedroom - Dramatic views and loads of natural light through the Gothic arched windows.

The Jockey's Bedroom - Small but perfectly formed!

If a cot is needed please let us know in advance.

Facilities

Whether for a group of friends, or a family gathering, School House has plenty of space for everyone to relax.

The fully equipped kitchen is designed to make it fun to prepare meals together, with a large granite-topped island workspace and a breakfast area, large walk-in pantry, plenty of fridge and freezer space and a wonderfully efficient dishwasher.

And when everyone’s eating together, you can serve up a feast in the adjoining dining hall with its large oval table.

The main reception room has deep leather sofas, perfect for lounging, and a real fire (to supplement the central heating!) There’s a large television, plenty of books and games and even a table football table.

Outside, there’s a large lawn and two terraced areas, perfect for a glass of something in the evening sunshine.

And when you do have to get back in touch with the office – or the kids need to access Facebook – there’s wi-fi broadband internet throughout the house.
