Lecture - "Mapping the Dales" venue: Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes - Keith Sweetmore from the Public Record Office at Northallerton will be giving a lecture to the Friends of the Museum on "Mapping the Dales" Non members are welcome to come along, admission £1.

Spinning Demonstration venue: Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes - Friends of the Museum will be spinning in the museum foyer. They can talk about many aspects of wool craft and could help you with queries or textile projects you may be working on.

North Country Theatre’s production of "Egil Skallagrimson Keeps His Head" venue: Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes - There are a few tickets left for North Country Theatre's production of "Egil Skallagrimson Keeps His Head". Wednesday 2nd March, 7.30 pm. Tickets are £8.50 or under 16s £5.

Hawes Gala venue: Hawes - Annual Hawes Gala. Fancy Dress Parade through Hawes onto the Gala Field. Side shows, children's races, etc etc

The Wensleydale Agricultural Show venue: Leyburn - A traditional dales show. Classes for cattle, sheep, heavy horses and ponies. Sheep dog trials, dressed walking sticks and vintage machinery. An impressive display of handicrafts, horticulture and homecrafts. Held annually on Saturday, August Bank Holiday weekend.

Reeth Show venue: Reeth, Swaledale - A traditional dales show in picturesque surroundings, Reeth Show in Swaledale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is a great day out for the whole family, with entertainments, trade stands and a chance to see some of the best livestock on display. A real treat for everyone, whether you live in the area or are here on holiday.

3rd September

The 95th Moorcock Show venue: Mossdale, near Hawes - Visitors will be able to watch the judging of sheep, as well has having the opportunity to do some judging themselves.

Children's entertainment, craft specialists and an exhibition by local businesses and food producers. There will also be an exhibition of local historical photographs, and the usual vintage tractor display. Refreshments will also be available. Starting at 12.00 noon at Mossdale, between Hawes and Sedbergh. Adults £4, children and car parking are free.

7th September

Muker Show venue: Muker, Swaledale - One of Yorkshire's most traditional shows – Classes for Sheep, Sheep Dog Trials, Handicrafts, Horticulture, Fancy Dress. Stone Walling Demo, Muker Silver Band in attendance.

9th - 11th September

Black Sheep Brewery Boots and Beer Walking Festival venue: Hawes, Aysgarth and Askrigg - What could be better than a weekend of fantastic beer, great walks, beautiful countryside and excellent entertainment? The 10th annual Black Sheep Boots and Beer Walking Festival is set to be the most exciting yet!

With a jam packed weekend planned to suit all levels of walkers, the 10th Festival is definitely not an event to be missed!

Hawes Christmas Festival venue: Hawes - Annual "Turning on" of the Christmas lights. Children's Party in the Market House. 4.00pm: Community carol singing in the Market Place with the Hawes Prize Silver Band, led by Rev. Janet Park. 4.30pm: Father Christmas arrives, Hawes Christmas lights switch on.
