Dales Festival Food and Drink 2009 - The Festival takes place over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend on a scenic site fronting the A684, half a mile east of Leyburn town centre. The centrepiece is the Food Hall where over 80 local and regional food producers offer their wares. The Theatre Marquee has cookery demonstrations throughout the day and a special feature is the Farming for Food area with interactive elements to encourage visitors, especially children, to make the link between agriculture and the food in the shops.

Open Gardens and Scarecrow Trail in Bellerby - A dozen hidden village gardens are open to view in this lovely village of becks and bridges. You can follow a scarecrow trail, listen to music from the Leyburn Band and enjoy homemade food in the Memorial Hall. Gardens close at 16.00 hours.

The Moorcock Show, Mossdale, Hawes - One of the leading sheep shows in the Yorkshire Dales, watch the judging of various classes and breeds of sheep ,including Swaledales and Roughs, as well has having the opportunity to do some judging themselves. Join in with Children's entertainment. Craft specialists and an exhibition by local businesses and food producers. There will also be an exhibition of local historical photographs, and the usual vintage tractor display. Refreshments will also be available with delicious afternoon teas. Starting at 12.00 noon at Mossdale, between Hawes and Sedbergh on the A684.

Richmond Walking & Book Festival - programme of walks will soon appear on www.richmondwalking.com and will be open for bookings from mid February. The Book Festival will again host a variety of events - authors confirmed so far include Peter Robinson and Ian Rankin, plus North Country Theatre will be telling the tale of the 2000 mile walk people did on the Oregon Trail.
